CHARGE OF RECEIVING STOLEN MONEY.
AUCKLAND, Tuesday. Two young men, named Charles Geo Frederick Pepper and Herbert Howlett were charged at the Supremo Courl with having received money, knowing il to be stolen from the steamship Navua The accused pleaded not guilty. II will bo remembered that 1000 sovereigns were stolen from the boat, and that twe men named Christie and Manning, 3rd officer and seaman respectively, wen found guilty of having stolen the mo ney, an 1 they are now undergoing sen tence. Pepper was charged with having received 5230 of the money, and How lett £152. The jury, after 20 mi nutes" retirement, brought in a vordicl of not gui'l-y, and -ac accused wero discharged.
