PALMERSTON NORTH ASSIZES.
PALMERSTON N., Tuesday. At th* Supreme Court, before Mi Justice Cooper, a verdict of not guilt} was returned in the case of Christopher Ryan, charged with stealing a golc watch and £7 at Halcombe on April 1 Patrick Naghan, charged with ob taining £5 from T. C. Keeting at Lin ton by means of false pretences, war found guilty, and remanded for sen tence till to-morrow. The accusec sold a chain represented to be gold which was hall marked, and which war worth only ls 3d.
