I THE INQriRY. (Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Wednesday. In the Calliope Dock fatality " inquiry, Captain Duder, Harl/ourmaster, in his evidence, said it was his 'duty to inspect the blocks, which were raised for the steamer Kaikoura. Tho dock was not pumped out before ehe Mamari was floated in. Tho <blocks were examined before the Kaikoura was floated out, and were then in firstclass order. The parties wene represented by six solicitors. In tho course of evidence 'it was stated that as the insurance company and the contractor refused to admit Jia'lmlity t o bury Clark's body, the Charitable Aid Hoard undertook the (ask. Mr Jtriffham. Secretary to the harbour Board, stated in his evidence that the Harbourmaster superintended the docking of all vessels. He was of opinion that the inspection of the blocks and other apnliances was the duty of the shipowner, because under the Hoard's by-laws n took no responsibility j n docking vessels.
