A THEATRE PROSECUTION.
CHRISTCHURCH, This Day At a meeting of the Council of Greater Christchurch last night the Inspector reported that he had warned the lessee (Mr Musgrove) of the Theatre of overcrowding, and Mr Musgrove s representative had stated that he would manage his business as he thought proper. The Inspsctor said that the passages were crowded to such an excess that if an alarm had taken place there might have been a serious calamity. Ihe Mayor said the Inspector had been defied, and moved that the City Solicitor be instructed to take proceedings against the lessee. The motion was agreed to.
