ANGLING LICENSES.
THE AMENDED FISHERIES ACT.
I he Fisheries Conservation Act Amend merit Act legalising the issue of license is now practically law. It provides amoni it) various clauses that whenever it i deemed expedient to acquire any land f fish brr edmg or hatcheries such lind ma; bo resumed as for a pnblic work and an; Etr'/rtina may le declared from tima ti Unio as st( apart for such purposes. Thi control (f such lands may be vested 1 registorod Acclimatisation Societies, bu nothing in the aforesaid clauses shall ap ply to any navigable river. No occupier of land can b< presented from fishing without license 01 fee on waters traveising Unds 80 occu pied within the periods of the open sea season. Any officer appointed under the piincipal Act U vested with all tht powers of a constable, and may ePfeci seizures in the execution of his duty. In connection with tho new Act, whicb pr ivides in Clanae ~> that the sale or letting of right to fish 'a illegal, the Nel or Acclimatisation Society finils that it mm cannot pay Mr Warnock, Mr Newport' successor, as tbe holder of Maitai Vallej lands, for tbe right to fish above the iror gatb.
