The following telegram from a correspondent afc^Roxburgh appeared in the Otago Daily Tims of Monday last. The Minister for Pnblio Works informs mo that correspondence has passed /between Mr W. B. Perceval, M.H.R,, and himself with referenoe to the difficulty whioh has arisen over the Midland Railway deviation, and Mr Perceval's mediation has brought the matter almost to a settlement the suggestion boing that the £6000 whioh the company has agreed to deposit aB Beourity for the completion pf the Belgrove oontraot should bo made to oover the rati« fioation of the oontraot with the Grey Oounty Oounoil. On this being done, it is understood that the Governor's assent to the deviation will be given. The following telegram haa been despatched by Mr Seddon to Mr Robert Wilson, manager of the Midland Railway Oompany ;-- --" Your reply to my memorandum of Satur* day laßt on the wholo satisfactory as to the words 'power of attorney,' you appear, however, to underestimate the importance of the legal difficulty.
