RIWAKA ROAD BOARD.

The Board met on June 4th. Present : Messrs Bate, Drummond, Fry, Macmahon, and Batchelor, The following tenders for Sandy Bay road were opened :— For No. 4: T. Woolf, £56 ; W. Duncan, 39 19s. No. 5 ; D. Hall, £94 14a 6d ; T. Woolf £95 ; T. Frankly n, £100. No 6: T. Franklyn, £119 10a. The lowest tender in each case was accepted. A letter was received from Mr Baigent stating his inability to supply the timber required by the Board owing to the bad state of the Riwaka Valley road. A letter was received from Mr C. Thomas stating his intention to claim damages fr m the Board for an accident he met with while crossing a certain bridge with horse and trap. A communication was also received from the Marine Department. Resolved, That all accounts presented be paid, (Bradley 9a per day the usual price paid by the Board for man with horse and eartj amount of which was £76 17s. Resolved, That three members of the Board inspect the Valley road and see what ia necessary to be done, also to ascertain whether Mr Baigent will as3ist in repairing it.
