OXFORD AND FERNSIDE DRAW

At Oxford on Saturday, Fernside and Oxford drew, after an exciting finish. The home team had only themselves to blame in not getting a win, as on the occasion of another drawn game this season, for they did not roll up until well after tlie proper starting, time, though the visitors were there on time. In both games, where a late start occurred, the time lost meant all the difference between a draw and a Avin. Milne and Sinclair gave Fernside a good start, 75 runs being up Avlien the first wicket fell. Both opening bats played good cricket. Prior batted soiindly for his runs, Avliile Mineliington, Avho top scored Avith 42, gave a vigorous but by no means chanceless display, and Avlien the last Avicket fell, the total Avas 167. Grant was the most successful bowler.

With 1| hours to make 168 runs to win Oxford lost two good wickets for 31, but Rossiter and Gibson put on 108 for the third wicket, both getting out through forcing the pace. C. Brown went in with about eight minutes left, and hit two good sixes, but when stunips were drawn the score stood at 161 for four wickets. Details:— Fernside Don Milne c and b A. Rossiter ... 35 J.
