Death of a Sportsman

Sportsmen throughout North Canterbury will deplore the loss of that grand old sportsman, Jimmy Juds'.>n, ( who died last week at Woodend in his Bbth year. Mr. Judson had been resident at Woodend for upwards of fifty years and had taken a keen interest in every sport played in the district. He was a man who could number his sporting friends by the legion, and had played the game in all his sports for the game’s sake. He was always an enthusiastic cricketer, and persevered in the game to an age- when most men can no longer play. To bowlers also bis name was and will still remain, a household word. His knowledge of the game, derived through all his playing years—he was still on the greens last season—made him indeed a veteran of veterans. Bowlers will be sorry to lose a man who by the integrity of his life, find his love of all manly sport, had so greatly endeared himself to North Canterbury.
