SUMMER GAMES.

BOWLING, CROQUET, AND TENNIS MONTHLY MEETING OF RANGIORA CLUB. The monthly meeting of the llangiora Bowling, Croquet, and Tennis Clnb was held last Monday night at 7.30 p.m. in the Clubrooms, Good Street, the President, Mr. C: H. Hargreaves, in. the chair. Apologies for absence were received from Mr. and Mrs Johnson. Losses. The chairman referred to the loss the Club had suffered in the death of Mr. Fred. Horrell, who had rendered great service. Mr. Horrell had hot been with the Club long, but during the time of his membership he had been invaluable in his unselfish offers •of work. He had helped to lay down the courts and would be hard to replace. Reference was also made to the death of Mr. J. Judson, a keen member of the club who had died recently at Woodend. The secretary was instructed to send a letter of sympathy to the relatives, while those present stood for a moment as a mark of -respect.

Resignations. A letter of resignation was received from Mr. Wise, and verbal notice of resignation from Mrs. Hargreaves. Balance Sheet. The secretary read, an interim balance sheet for twelve months’ working (the date of the annual meeting 1 aving been altered from May) showing the receipts to have been £3Ol/12/6 and expenses £346/0/7. Outstanding subscriptions amounted to £23/2/6 and there were liabilities totalling £lO/11/10. Independently of these figures £IOO had been paid; off the mortgage. To the general account there was a credit balance at the present time of £32/15/2. Annual Meeting. The chairman moved that the annual meeting be held as early in September as possible. Mr. Bailey moved that the meeting he held on Monday, sth September. This was seconded by Mrs. Jordan, and carried unanimously. Subscriptions. The chairman remarked that it was a surprise to him to find the club so far overspent, but in such a time lie did not regard the amount outstanding in subscriptions as excessive. Mr Ban field asked whether a recommendation could not he made at the Annual Meeting that subscriptions be reduced. The secretary, however, said that such a reduction would take 12 months to come into force, and in the meantime owing to the high subscriptions many members would have resigned. As nothing could be done in the meantime, the discussion was not continued.
