Extra Petrol Supplies For Holiday Season

OAMARU, Sat. (P.A.). —“The Government has given consideration to the possibility of making extra petrol available for the Christmas season,” said the Minister of Supply (Mr Nordmeyer) this morning, “and I am pleased to announce that it has been decided that the December coupons will be available at double their normal face value.

"The position, therefore, will be that October coupons, 10, 11 and 12, which have not been expended, wilPbe available in November.

"In addition, coupons 13. 14 and 15 will be available for the month of November at full face value. "Any of these coupons 13, 14 and 15, which'are not used in November, maybe utilised in December.

“Coupons 10. 17 and 18 will be available either in December or Januuary at double their face value.

“Coupons 19, 20 and 21 will be available, in January at full face value, or may be carried over until February.

“This extra petrol is being made available for the purpose of casing the strain on public transport facilities during the Christmas holiday period.

"In order to enable taxis to compete with the extra Christmas rush, a further 20 gallons will be allotted in December for each single-shift taxi, and 30 gallons for each double shift taxi, while a special allowance of 10 gallons will be made for rental ears.”
