Car Crashes Into Tamaki River
AUCKLAND, Sat. (Sp.)—When their car left the road and fell about 12 feet into the mud of the Tamaki River in Otahuhu last night, two people narnowly escaped serious injury. A few cuts and bruises were received by the driver, Mr Maurice Newlands, 21, of Papatoetoe, but the passenger, Miss E. Morris, 19, of Mangere East, was not injured.
At 9.30 the car crashed through a paling fence and landed on its hood in the mud 12 feet belov. The car was wrecked.
Both occupants managed to get out of the wreck and scramble ashore, where Mr Newlands was attended by a doctor.
