EXPERTS REPORT ON HAIGH

LONDON. Thu. (10 a.m.)— John George Haigh, sentenced to death for the acid-bath murder of Mrs Durand-Deacon and awaiting execution next Wednesday has been examined by three Home Office experts in mental diseases. The plea that he was insane was made at the trial. The Home Office stated today that the experts’ report was being considered by the Home Secretary (Mr Chuter Edo), now on holiday in Scotland. Mr Ede will decide within a few days whether Haigh is to die or to be reprieved. Haigh would, in that event, be sent to Broadmoor Criminal Lunatic Asylum for life.
