N.Z. Wants 1100 Foreign Workers
GENEVA, Mon. (10 a.m.)— The International Labour Office announced today that seven of its member countries, including New Zealand, might import over 200,000 foreign workers before the end of 1949. Britain said she would need 13,000 more foreign workers this year, despite her unemployment figures, standing above 350,000. New Zealand estimated her needs during 1949 at 1100 foreign workers, but specified her preference for British subjects.
