Tom Heeney's Mother Dead
GISBORNE, Tue. (P.A.). The mother of a notable New Zealand boxing family, Mrs Eliza Heeney, died in the Cook Hospital at the age of 89 after a brief illness. Two sons won fame in the ring, Jack as New Zealand middle-weight champion, and Tom as New Zealand and British Empire champion who fought ! Tunney for the world championship. Another son, Frank, a brilliant amateur boxer, was killed in action in France in the First World War. Mrs Heeney is survived by two other sons and two daughters.
