Colonel H. C. Parker, of the United States Army, arrived in Auckland by the Aorangi last evening to take up the post of military attache on the staff of the United States Ambassador in New Zealand (Mr R. M. Scotten). The present military attache. Colonel F. E. Cookson, is to return to the United States in the Aorangi next month. The resignation of Mrs G. Lawler from the Whangarei Hospital Board’s office staff was received with regret by the board at its meeting yesterday. Mrs Lawler stated that she had been very happy on the staff and was leaving for domestic reasons only. Eulogistic references to Mrs Lawler’s services were made by board members, and it was' decided to grant Mrs Lawler a week’s leave with pay as a mark ol the board’s appreciation.
