SENTENCED
TOKIO.—Six former lieutenant - generals were sentenced to prison terms ranging from one year to 24 years’ hard labour for their roles in transporting 17,000 Allied war prisoners to Japm on board Japanese “hell ships.” The accused were found guilt? by the United States Military Commission in Yokohama of responsibility for overcrcwding 40 ships used fir carrying prisoners of, war from the South I^cific. The A prosemtion said that the prisoners were without adequate protection from starvation, thirst, overcrowding, acts of violence, dangers of the sea and disease. % * *
