Druids' Hall Almost Ready
Work on the Druids’ Hall in Bank Street Whangarei, is expected to- be finished at the end of next week. Cost of the property, removal of the hall (which was formerly at Kamo) and re-erection, with alterations and fittings, is established at under £3OOO. Estimated cost of removal and refitting alone is £IBOO. The dance-hall proper is 24ft 7in. wide, and 79ft Gin. long. Four rooms have been added, a men’s cloakroom, a women’s cloakroom, a kitchen, and a secretary's office. Wiring has been installed for 16 fluorescent lights, but only eight will be used until costs have been worked out.
The hall will be “christened” on Friday November 26, when members of the Grand Lodge executive, from other parts of new Zealand will install the newly-elected Whangarei officers. Officially, the hall will be opened on Saturday, November 27, with a dinner at which. 300 people are expected to be present, including the Grand Lodge executive. The opening dance will be held on December 4.
