Regimentation's Bad Effect 1 On Farmers
AUCKLAND, Tue. (P.A.)—lmpressed by the stupendous effort Britain is making to overcome her difficulties. Mr Noel McGregor, of Mt Linton, Southland, who returned with his wife by air today after a six months’ world trip, said the farming system had improved immensely, but regimentation by controls was having a bad effect on farmers.
Numbers of young men wanted to come to the Dominions. Mr McGregor said.
Also, more coal was being mined in Britain than could be used, but the price was so high that overseas buyers were limiting orders. “If the British Government nationalises the steel industry and the price rises correspondingly,” he added, “the effect on Britain and the Empire will be disastrous.”
