Whangarei SPCA
At the monthly social afternoon of the Whangai-ei branch of the SPCA, Mrs Pattei'son presided over a large attendance.
A programme was presented by the following: Mrs J. Walker (piano solo), Mrs Lester and Mrs R. Maxwell (songs), Mrs Smith (i-ecitations), Mrs Rowlands (violin solo, accompanied by Mi’s H. Webb). Those present took part in a “Sing, Say or Pay” competition. Mrs Maxwell gave a humorous reading and Mrs Patterson a short talk on the work of the society. A competition for the best article made from a flour bag was won by Mrs Coward with Mrs Melville second. Another competition was won by Mrs Alexander. Afternoon tea was served by Mrs Oldcorn and Mrs Babe. The trading table, in charge of Mrs L. Maxwell, and Mrs W. Fostei\ did good business.
