Farsfr-Qwarier Death Rate Lowest Ever
LONDON, Wed. (10 a.m.)—The infant mortality rate of 41 per 1000, the general death rate of 12.4 per 1000, and 646 deaths from influenza for the first three months of 1943 represented the lowest ever for a first quarter of the year in England and Wales. Births totalled 202,184, representing a birthrate of 18.9 per 1000, compared with 193,586 for the previous quarter and 241,530 for the corresponding quarter of 1947. Marriages were 188,394, which is 46,156 over the average for the corresponding period of the previous five years.
