Northland Hockey Assn. Recommended
Two recommendations in favour of the formation of a Northland Hockey Association will be forwarded to the Auckland Hockey Association by the Whangarei association. This was decided at the management committee meeting last night. The proposed association will embrace Whangarei, Northern Wairoa, Rodney and any new association formed in the north
Since the body controlling the Country Week tournament has amended its rules allowing the men of the proposed new association to participate in this tournament, support for the move have been given by men of the Whangarei association. The women, however, will only support the plan if the Auckland rules can be amended further to allow the women to participate in Country Week. The Country Week tournament is staged in Auckland every year for competition between sub-associations in the Auckland Province. If Northland became a separate association and could not take part, this would, it was felt, spoil the tournament.
Delegates from Whangarei are tc meet those from Northern Wairoa and Rodney to discuss their views on the matter. The boundaries are to be considered and a centre proposed. The Whangarei delegates are: Men. Messrs N. Munro, G. A. R. McKoy, R. N. McKenzie and J. H. Donaldson. Women, Mr H. Hannam, Misses S. McGregor and P. Rasmussen and Mrs A. Babe.
