Games For Auckland Or Christchurch
LONDON, Wed. (10 a.m.).—The International Amateur Athletics Federation has decided that the 1950 Empire Games will be held cither at Christchurch or Auckland.
The sports will include athletics, boxing, cycling, rowing, swimming, wrestling, and bowls. New Zealand has the option of adding two other sports, subject to the Empire Games Federation's approval. The meeting also decided to institute British Empire athletics records.
These will apply to performances made by British Commonwealth athletes within the Commonwealth.
A message from Wellington says the claims of Auckland and Christchurch will be discussed at a meeting of the executive of the New Zealand Olympic and British Empire Games Association in about a week.
