Fourth Time Lucky
The success of the Maungakaramea team in the final of the junior country zone competition at the Whangarei Primary Schools’ Sports Association Rugby tournament last Friday was. thoroughly deserved. The ’Karamea boys have been in the final four times and this was their first triumph.
The team played excellent football against Hikurangi in the deciding game, and won convincingly by 16 points to nil. Tries were scored by Walker (2), Robinson and Marsh. Robinson converted two of them.
The Maungakaramea School is represented only in the one grade. Hikiyangi took the senior honours and Convent the bantam among the country schools. Convent competes in the country competition as it is the only town school embracing standards five and six.
