Paparoa Gunmen Cock O’ North
At the recently reconstituted Otamatea District Gun Club’s first official shoot, held at Toka Toka, a Paparoa team won the Cock o’ the North trophy with 23 breaks out of a possible 25. In spite of heavy rain during the early morning, after which the weather cleared, conditions were quite satisfactory for the fair-sized gathering of competitors and spectators, who saw some very line shooting. Up to 28 competitors took part in some events, and five teams competed for the Cock o’ the Worth trophy. Results were: Cock o’ the North teams shoot (5 birds each, 5 competotors per team): Paparoa (L. Ball, J. Windloburne, B. C. Bertie, L. Garmson, R. Quaii'e), 23 breaks, 1; Ruawai (M. Scott. G. Thompson. C. Smith, R. King, P. Church), IS) breaks, 2; Taipuha (G. Bell, ,W. Harrison, T. Bali, H, Powell, G. Cliff), 11 breaks, 3; Northern Wairoa (H. Potts, T. Studholme, H. Rutledge, L. Fisher, C. Moloughney), 13 breaks, 4; United (W. King, R. Scott. R. Llewellyn, R. Fenton, McCullough), 5.
