Pedigree Jerseys Sell Well Today

High average prices ruled at the dispersal sale conducted by Dalgety and Co., Ltd., at Tikipunga on behalf of Mr E. A. Care.

The highest price of 100 gns was paid by Mr E. D. M. Parkinson (Hupara) for Greenrivers Sandersonia, a VHC cow with a production record of 539.111 b butterfat last season,

This cow was rising seven, and was in calf to Ake Ake Allah. She was sired by O.K. General Combine, a sire with 41 c.o.r. daughters up to 7631 b l’at, out of Greenrivers Petal, with a record of 4071 b in 303 days.

Another high-priced cow was Mount View Poppy Flower, purchased by Mr D. L. Ruddell, of Waipu, for 90 gns.

She was an H.C. cow by O.K. Palatine Idol out of Mount View Dark Poppy, with a record of 492.811 b fat in 346 days

BRISK TEMPO Messrs R. D. Thompson and W. Teal also offered stock at the sale, which was conducted under canvas, with Messrs H. R. Lacy and G. Elliott on the rostrum. The tempo was brisk and the lines offered early in the sale met with keen competition. Mr Care sold his whole herd and the young stock realised excellent prices. Glenbervie Maiden,, purchased by Mr 11. Masters, of Taipuha, made 57£ gns, while another two-year-old, Glenbervie Silver Flower, was passed at 85 gns. The eight-year-old herd sire Ake Ake Allah, sold for 423, gns to Crawford Bros. This bull was bred from the best Crystal Springs families.
