Mangonui Hospital Estimates Pared

KAITAIA, Fri. (Sp.).—Deletion of certain items from the Mang'onui Hospital Board’s capital estimates for 1948-49 has been directed by the Health Department.

Advice to this effect was received at the board’s monthly meeting yesterday.

Main proposals affected were: Provision of old people’s home, £‘5000; assistant medical oilicer’s residence, £1800; reconstruction of staff recreation room, £BSO. It was, however, indicated that the estimates should be amended to cover the required loan finance to provide for necessary additions to the nurses’ home. NEW MATERNITY ANNEXE In view of the increased estimated cost of alterations to the present maternity annexe, these proposals were not approved, it being considered preferable to proceed with the suggested new building. The board was advised that a smaller item could be included on the estimates for improvements to the staff recreation rooms.
