TONNAGE RATE FOR EXTRA PAY
The written decision of the Conciliation Commissioner (Mr C. L. Hunter), regarding the claims of Whangarei transport drivers handling the Cape York’s fertiliser cargo has been received in Whangaref.
It states that a I ate of 1/- per ton in excess of the hourly or weekly rate, shall be granted, and not 10/- per hour, as was originally understood. Giving his decision, Mr Hunter comments of a tonnage rate for the hourly rate requested by the union, was, in his opinion, more suitable to all concerned.
