Requiring 212 runs to win when they resumed their second inning's of one for 31 in a cricket match with Ctago, which entered its last day at Carisbrook in fine weather, the Fijians at the end of the morning’s play had lost seven for 146. A feature of the batting was a forceful 48 made by Isoa, who hit a six and five fours. McArley, the Ctago fast bowler, took two wickets with successive balls, including the wicket of Apted, who was bowled first ball after making 86 in the Fijians' first innings. The brightest batting of Otago’s innings was provided by the 16-year-old colt N. McGregor, who gave a brilliant display of correct strokemaking for 71.
