Whangarei Golf Season
The Whangaroi Golf Club was officially opened for the season by this year's president (Mr A. It. Ryder) at a ceremony at the Mt Denby links on Saturday afternoon.
About 150 were present, and Mi Ryder in his opening speech welcomed the visitors, the majority of whom were from the Whau Valley Golf Club, and J.oca’l members.
The president of the Whau Valley Club (Mr L. J. Going) replied on behalf of the visitors.
Winners of the opening tournament, a mixed Canadian Stableford, were Mr R. A. McLaren and Mrs O. Hailes. The score was 38.
The playing season will open next Friday, with a Canadian foursome Stabloford for women members.
