Two Whangarei bowlers. M. Whitelaw and L. Lambess. competed with success at £ie Rotorua RSA annual full-rink tournament. Teamed with Moore and Robertson, of the Onehunga club, they were leading in their semi-final game with a Stratford rink when rain caused the abandonment of the fixture. Fifty rinks, from all parts of the North Island, took part in eight section games of 25 ends, and 14 qualified. Post-section play reduced the number to four. Onehunga was leading Stratford and Balmoral was playing Te Avoha when the weather forced a closure.

The: prizes, were divided equally among the semi-finalists, with each skip receiving a cup.
