Venezuelans Claims On British Guiana
NEW YORK, Thu.—The Venezuelan Congress voted unanimously today to support Argentina, Chile and Guatemala in their disputes with Britain over territories in the Western Hemisphere. says the United Press correspondent in Caracas. Simultaneously, unconfirmed reports said that Venezuela would press her own long-standing claims on British Guiana at the economic conference which is to open on March 30 at Bogota, Colombia. NIGERIA BACK The cruiser Nigeria returned to Port Stanley last night froim her cruise iii Antarctic waters, says Reuters correspondent. In a farewell speech to the ship’s company, the Governor of the Falkland Islands (Sir Miles Clifford) said there was no doubt that the cruiser’s visit had served a useful purpose. “It will have shown,” he said, “that Eritain will not hesitate to send her ships from one side of the seas to the other to protect her interests, while the immediate offers of assistance from the Dominions will also have given Argentina and Chile something to think about.” The Nigeria is refuelling before returning to South Africa.
