Bus Drivers 7 Award

WELLINGTON. Thu. (Sp.).—Substantial improvements for both rural and urban passenger bus drivers were embodied in an agreement reached in Conciliation Council yesterday for the New Zealand Road Passenger Transport Drivers' award. Uniform conditions for town and country drivers were established by the merging of the three parts of the award into one.

The agreement provides for a 40hour, five-day week, Monday to Saturday, with Sunday outside the 40 hours.

Saturday work is to be paid for at half time additional.

Any work done on Sundays will be paid for at double time, with a minimum of four hours.

The daily spread of hours has been reduced from nine in 12 hours to eight and a half in 11, and the broken shift payment is increased from 1/6 to 2/-. Wages are increased to bring, them to £7/5/4 a week.
