Defence Of Dominion
WANGANUI, Thu. (Sp.)—‘“Has the nation forgotten 1939 when illequipped men were pitted against the best trained and equipped forces in the world?”
This question was asked by Mr C. N. Armstrong, at the quarterly meeting of the Wanganui RSA. Great concern was shown at the delay and apparent apathy in regard to the defence of New Zealand. A resolution was adopted calling on the Prime Minister (Mr Fraser) and the Government to call an immediate special meeting of the Cabinet to formulate a programme for adequate provision for the Navy. Army and Air Force and compulsory physical and military training.
