NZ Sculptor's Work Lying In Paris

WELLINGTON. Wed. (P.A.) Inquiries by the New Zealand High Commissioner in London (Mr V\. J. Jordan) as to the fate of several Maori busts, the work of the New Zealand sculptor, the late Margaret Butler, exhibited last before the war in the Salon des Tuileries. Paris, revealed that two bronzes and two plasters by Miss Butler were stored in a Paris warehouse, where they were waiting disposal. A Wellington business man, Mr G. V. Dixon, visited Miss Butler before her death. He was anxious as to the whereabouts of the busts, and wrote to Mr Jordan, who contacted the French Ambassador in London, who informed him of the position.

However, vith Miss Butler's death, the busts now are the responsibility of her executors.
