Two Athletic Officials Resign
At a special meeting last night, the Whangarei Amateur Athletic Club accepted the resignations of its secretary ,(Mr S. K. Philpott) and a comittee member (Mr J. Slater). Mr Slater leaves on February 9 on transfer to Auckland. Eulogistic reference was made to the fine service rendered the club by both officials and regret was expressed at their loss. Mr S. Hartnell was elected as new secretary and Mr E. M. Chaincy to the vacancy on the committee. Mr L. Sly was coopted to assist the committee. A discussion ensued on the advisability of holding the weekly meetings on an evening during the week instead lof on Saturday mornings. Several members have found that the athletics on Saturday morning have interfered with their other week-end interests and favour reverting to the mid-week meetings as held last season. It was decided to test the feelings of members at Kensington Park on Saturday when a full muster is requested.
