A Little Competition At Yearling Sales
| AUCKLAND, Wed. (Sp.).—Bidding was not brisk at the first annual northern yearling sales held at Pukekohe racecourse yesterday. The quality offering was fairly good, but there was little competition. Seventeen yearlings were sold for a total of 4410 guineas, the top price, 600 guineas, being paid for a tall brown colt by Fearless Commando from Vidi | Vici. ! He was purchased by Mr M. F. Khan, of Rotorua who was the largest buyer of the sale. A chestnut colt by Probation from Waitarma and the brood ljiare Mahzami, by Nizami, with a foal at foot, were passed in at 650- and 700 guineas respectively. Prices throughout were well below those paid for yearlings thoroughbreds in recent years.
