Sydney Will Be Mecst 1 Hungry
SYDNEY, Wed. (10.30 a.m.)—According to coupons issued, Sydney eats 2200 tens or meat a week. Because of the strike at Homebush Abattoirs the supply will be cut to 880 tons by the' end of this week, and no provision will have been made for hospitals and institutions. The export of meat to Britain will suffer to the extent of 100 tons a week. Most of the 1060 employees in butchers’ shops supplied by Homebush will be unemployed by the end of the week if the strike continues. The union executive is urging the men to return to work and submit the dispute to arbitration.
