Collapsed While Swimming To Ship
BLENHEIM, Wed. (P. A.)—'While swimming from the shore to a launch at Elaine Bay, at the head of Tennyson Inlet, Pelorous Sound, yesterday afternoon, a member of a holiday party collapsed and died. He was: Mr Alan Albert Wilson, married, of Wellington, proprietor of KKK Bakeries. Mr Wilson was one of a party which chartered a launch for a seven-days’ cruise in the sounds. The boat arrived at Elaine Bay at about 1.30 p.m. yesterday and anchored about a chain off shore. Mr Wilson went swimming and reached the boat again after going ashore, but as he was endeavouring to pull himself over the side he fell back intb the water. Other members of the party gave assistance and lifted him into the launch. They found that life was extinct. The launch returned to Havelock where the police were notified.
