Rain Mars Last Of Holiday Period
After experiencing excellent weather during the New Year holidays, Whangarei and district made up for it during the last four days, when -G6in of rain fell. Starting on Saturday, when .01 in. was recorded, the rainfall reached .37in on Sunday, and .25in on Monday. Up to 8 a.m. today, .04in had fallen. Besides the rain the north-east gale ] on Sunday made things anything but pleasant for campers and yachtsmen. The rain was welcomed by some, particularly gardeners, whose gardens j were beginning to dry out rapidly, j Motorists, too, were not sorry to see | some rain. It laid the dust and cooled i the heated asphalt on borough roads.
