Big Offensive Opened In Chino
NANKING, Wed. (10 a.m.)—-Major-General Teng Wen Yi, military spokesman for the Chinese Government, said today that Government forces between the Yellow and Yangtse Rivers were three times greater than the Communist force in the same area. He estimated that the Communists numbered 200,000.
Government troops, he said, had begun a large-scale offensive in the Taipeh mountain regions, bordering the Yangt.se, during the past two days, against the one-eyed Communist general, Liu Po Chen, who at present holds what is believed to be an impregnable position in the mountain fastnesses.
