Costal Boat Bears Familiar Nome
Bearing the name of a steamer familiar to older residents of Whangarei, the Northern Steamship Company’s motor vessel Clansman brought a 200-ton cargo of general goods to Whangarei this morning.
Capable of carrying a general cargo of 280 tons she is considerably larger than the usual coastal vessels which call at Whangarei. The Clansman, in command of Captain E. H. Cathcart, is equipped with wireless telephone. Built 17 years ago, she was originally known as the Waka, but when the old steamer Clansman was withdrawn from the Northern run, she was renamed. Her usual run is from Auckland to Whakatane.
