P.M/s Private Secretary To Enter Commerce
WELLINGTON, Thu. (Sp.)—Mr W. O. Harvey, Chief Private Secretary to the Prime Minister and Clerk of the Executive Council, has resigned to enter commercial life and will leave on Christmas Eve. Mr Harvey joined the Public Trust Office in 1926. and in 1936 became one of the secretaries to the then Prime Minister (Mr Savage).
He became chief private secretary on the retirement of Mr C. A. Jeffery some two years ago and was appointed Clerk of the ExecutWe Council at the same time. He served in the Pacific from 1942 to 1945 and was relieving chief private secretary when Mr Jeffery was iecovering from a serious motor car accident suffered in the Middle East.
