Anglo-American Tariff Agreement
(Rec. 10.0 a.m.) LONDON, Oct. 17. It is believed that an announcement about Anglo-American agreement on tariffs and preferences will be made next Wednesday in the House of Com-, mons, says Reuters. Both the Prime Minister (Mr Attlee) ' and Dr Dalton will speak in the debate on the Speech from the Throne and one or other is expected to give suclv details of the agreement as can be’ made public at this stage. In Geneva today a British spokesman confirmed that Britain and the United States had reached agreements on major points of tariff preference adjustments. He added that it would be improper to say a final agreement had been reached, since a number of matters were still outstanding and required consultation with Commonwealth Governments.
