British Investors In Confident Mood
(Rec. 1.10 p.m.) LONDON, Sept. 5. The Stock Exchange staged a sharp recovery in prices today in a surprise spasm of buying, which added tens of millions sterling to the values of leading industrial shares. The financial correspondent of The Times says prospects of interim American aid in advance of the Marshall Plan, hope of an early settlement of the coal strike ,and news that Australia intended to sell her current gold output to Britain all combined to improve the sentiment.
