Over 200 Attend Kaitaia Masonic Ball
(Special) KAITAIA, This Day. More than 200 guests who attended the annual Masonic Ball by invitation at Kaitaia on Thursday night participated fn an evening of unusual enjoyment.
Regarded as one of the premier events of the Far North social season, the ball, conducted by the officers and brethren of Lodge Mangonui No. 78, is regarded by members as their opportunity to show appreciation of many kindnesses .experienced during the lodge year. As in the past, arrangements for Thursday night’s function were in full keeping with this spirit.
Decorations in the A. and P. Hall embodying the lodge emblem lent a touch of dignity enhanced by the formal attire, offset, however, by the gay frocking of the ladies, while the lodge itself spared no effort for the pleasure of its guests. The reception by the Worshipful Master (Wor. Bro. C. S. Wood) who was assisted by Mrs W. Horsley as hostess, was formal, as was the grand parade which followed.
A welcome to those present by Wor. Bro. Wood and the singing of the National Anthem paved the way for a dance programme in which modern and old-time numbers were mingled under the direction of Wor. Bro. R. R. Lewis.
The Versatile Orchestra provided bright music, and extras were contributed by Mr E. W. Hansen and Mrs Kelsall.
A tasty supper served by members was a feature of the evening, and the singing of Auld Lang Syne concluded a particularly happy function.
