Had Stopped Work On 'Black' Building

(Special) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Building Controller had taken appropriate which had not been left to any outside organisation. This was stated by the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Works (Mr D. W .Coleman), commenting on reports that the Auckland Trades Council had declared “black” a building at Papatoetoo. Consent had never been given for construction of a club. Originally an application for a three-roomed dwelling was approved, but the area had been exceeded, only one room instead of three was provided, and a concrete floor had been laid. Because of these violations of the regulations the district building controller authorised the work to be stopped on July 25, and legal proceedings were to be instituted.
