Sweeping Thrift' Regulations In China
(Rec. noon) NANKING, Sept. 5. The Nanking Government today announced sweeping thrift regulations to conserve foreign exchange. The controls will include nationwide petrol rationing and the eventual restriction of drivers’ licences to essential operators, heavy reductions in newspapers and periodicals and a reduction in the number of Government employees. The social restrictions include the castigation of persons who arrive late at social functions or leave early or are absent without notifying their host.
