TRUCK CHARGES INTO KITCHEN
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Tearing down a steep embankment above Severn Street, Island Bay, yesterday, a runaway five-ton truck crashed through the side of a house, causing extensive damage. The truck came to rest half inside the kitchen, where it smashed the sink, destroyed a number of built-in cupboards, overturned an electric cooker and caused a water main to burst. The side of the house was badly splintered. The burst main caused extensive flooding and the truck, owned by the Akatarawa Timber Company, was so badly damaged that it had to be towed away. Nobody was injured.
