U.S. Purchases From Australia Lower
(1.30 p.m.) CANBERRA, This Day. American purchases of Australian wool last July were 83 per cent lower than in July, 194 G. Figures released by the Commonwealth Statistician show that America took 21,468 bales last July, whereas in July, 1946, she bought 130,578 bales. The value of wool exports to the United States fell from £3,053,000 in Ju1y,‘1946, to £884,000 last July. Officials pointed out that this means fewer dollars for Australia and the Empire.
